Consigli and Seven Hills Global Outreach Partner in the Opening of a New School and Health Clinic in Sierra Leone

WORCESTER, MA – This past May, representatives from Seven Hills Global Outreach (SHGO), an affiliate of Seven Hills Foundation, recently traveled with a team from Consigli Construction Co., Inc. to Bo, Sierra Leone. The team participated in the opening of a new school for 100 children in grades 1 to 5, a health clinic that can serve 50 to 100 women per day, a nutrition center and a new well that can provide clean and safe water to the villagers.

These new improvements bring progress to the exceptionally strained health care system, which holds alarming facts such as, one out of every five children in Sierra Leone will not reach the age of five and one out of every seven women will die in childbirth.

Over the past year, Consigli Construction has been a dedicated financial supporter of Seven Hills Global Outreach efforts in Sierra Leone.  Additionally, Consigli staff traveled to the site in Sierra Leone in June 2010 and in October 2010 to provide extensive technical expertise in the mapping, construction, and introduction of innovative methods for bringing healthcare and education to the rural communities outside of Bo.

Regarding his recent visit to Sierra Leone for the grand opening of the school and health clinics, Anthony Consigli, President of Consigli Construction, commented, “Our experiences in Sierra Leone served to emphasize the importance of giving back, and we at Consigli feel fortunate to provide our assistance to a community that really needs it.”

Consigli Construction, one of the largest construction companies in the Northeast, has long been a contributor to Seven Hills through its charitable arm, The Consigli Foundation. A large portion of time is also devoted to philanthropic projects and community involvement including partnerships with national organizations such as the American Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity, local charities, housing and homelessness organizations, and hunger relief agencies.  Along with their philanthropic work Consigli Construction received many awards including, most recently, the 6th running year as one of the ‘Best Places to Work’ by the Boston Business Journal.

Seven Hills Global Outreach has provided assistance in other areas besides Sierra Leone such as Brazil, Guatemala, Haiti and Kenya. Their mission for all developing nations is to provide assistance by encouraging and motivating the interest and involvement of social sector organizations, private sector corporations and public sector agencies in advancing indigenous means of resolving global social challenges.

With its corporate office in Worcester, the Seven Hills Foundation currently offers program sites at 160 locations throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island employing nearly 3,500 professionals.
