Consigli Construction Co., Inc.’s New York State Capitol Restoration Wins Two Building Awards

MILFORD, MA –  Consigli Construction Co., Inc. (Consigli) recently received two 2013 “Best Projects” awards from Engineering News-Record New York for its landmark restoration of the New York State Capitol building in Albany.  Honored with the Best Government/Public Building Award in the tristate region and the Best Safety Project Award across all project categories, Consigli was recognized for excellence in project management, successful use of innovative technologies, and for standing far above the rest in safety compliance.

Designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1979, the New York State Capitol building suffered long-standing issues, such as severe water infiltration, since its completion in 1899. Consigli repaired and restored the oldest and most deteriorated sections of the building, including the 130-year old terra-cotta roof and east façade, completing the project nearly 22 months ahead of schedule and saving taxpayers $2.4 million.

ENR’s Best Projects competition for the tristate area was not limited by value or scope of work. Judges reviewed 67 projects completed between July 1, 2012 and June 30, 2013 to select 18 projects to receive top recognition in specific categories. In addition, safety experts on the judge’s panel reviewed 27 entries to select the top winner for excellence in safety.
