HARTFORD, CT –  The country’s oldest art museum, Hartford’s Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, is new again. This weekend’s grand reopening marked the completion of the multi-year, multi-phased renovation of these five interconnected buildings. Heralded by the New York Times’ Roberta Smith as a “masterpiece of renovation,” including 24 reopened galleries in the Wadsworth’s Morgan Memorial Building, allowed 1,000 works to be reinstalled. Consigli’s collaboration, included everything from masonry repair and gallery restoration to modernized building systems and art storage facilities.

“When I started here eight years ago, the roofs leaked so badly that we had to close off entire galleries,” said Susan L. Talbott, director and CEO of the Wadsworth, as quoted in the CT Post. “I could have hardly imagined that the museum would have undergone such a massive renovation,” she said.  “And when I say massive, it extended from basement to rooftop.  It is thrilling, on the eve of my retirement to look at what we as a team have accomplished.”
