Project Overview

  • Significant restorations of a National Historic Landmark
  • Renovation of the signature 7,000 sq. ft. performance hall into a high-quality performance and theater venue
  • Integration of an elevator tower into the historic fabric of the building

Hudson Hall at the historic Hudson Opera House underwent its final, and most significant restoration project, completing over 20 years of upgrades to New York’s oldest surviving theater. This iconic building holds deep ties to our cultural heritage and has been a stage for some of our nation’s most influential leaders. The restoration transformed the space into a modern performance venue, driving economic growth and development in the city’s downtown area.

Renovations to the second-floor performance hall introduce a flexible 300-seat theater, new heating, ventilation and cooling systems, high-end performance equipment and complete rehabilitation of the mezzanine, stage and support spaces. Demolition and installation of structural steel and a new basement slab helps support the structure, while asbestos and lead abatement, installation of an elevator, new electrical and fire systems upgraded the building’s safety. All of the windows were restored to their original condition.
