Project Overview

  • Constructed within the confines of a dense, urban environment with high levels of pedestrian traffic
  • Maintaining access to two crosswalks at all times and incorporating unique scaffolding to ensure safe passage
  • Active bus stop located directly in front of the new building which was kept open and active throughout construction

Project Place has been providing training, counseling and supportive services for the homeless for more than thirty years, and their new home will help grow that mission.

The six-story structure with full basement houses 14 units of affordable efficiency housing on the top two floors, program space for Project Place including a commercial kitchen, dining room, conference room, classroom space, computer-training center, employee workspace and retail restaurant space.

Due to the busy urban site, safety and site logistics were of critical concern on this project. The team kept scaffolding fully decked off and a plywood wall between the new building and the inside of the scaffolding, allowing passengers to board and unboard buses safely at the Silver Line bus stop.
