Town of Needham

Project: Newman Elementary School
Location: Needham, MA
Architect: Drummey Rosane Anderson, Inc.

Originally constructed in 1961, Newman Elementary School required extensive upgrades to the M/E/P and structural systems as well as renovations to meet code requirements. While construction took place, separate temporary school space was provided by a network of modular units.

  • Work in and around the occupied school includes a new roofing system, sprinkler system, structural supports, modernization of existing auditorium and construction of a new kitchen.
  • Separation between students/staff and construction was achieved with the installation of bright, air-conditioned modular units which connect classrooms and hallways to the school’s newly renovated cafeteria and kitchen.
  • An aggressive phasing schedule ensures milestone completions for this 120,000 sq. ft. addition/renovation.
