Consigli Awarded Contract for Portland Seadogs Clubhouse Construction
Project will result in upgraded facilities, more space for players and coaches  

Portland, ME – The Portland office of Consigli Construction Co., Inc. recently broke ground on the construction of a new clubhouse and training facilities for the Portland Sea Dogs, an affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, adding to Consigli’s portfolio of athletic facility projects across New England.

After an exhaustive pre-construction process that included estimating, logistics planning, scheduling and construction management services, the $1.6 million project recently broke ground. The new structure is located on a tight site directly underneath the right field bleachers and when complete will include enhanced offerings for both managers and athletes. Consigli will build and fit out new office space for management personnel, as well as new a weight training room and cardio fitness area for athletes.

A new locker room will allow the Seadogs to move from their current offsite location at the Portland Exposition Building. Shower and bathroom facilities will receive extensive updates, and Consigli will perform selective demolition to save and re-use existing fixtures, helping to reduce construction wastes generated by the renovation.

Thanks to Consigli’s extensive in-house resources of specialized trades personnel, nearly 20% of the project will be self-performed. This work includes site demolition, concrete work and all rough carpentry. Over the next two weeks, work crews will complete concrete foundations and place new slabs, and complete rough framing in early December. In addition to the new clubhouse, the project also includes a new elevated batting cage and bullpen overlooking the right field wall.

Due to team’s return from its winter break in March, Consigli will complete this fast-track project in time for next season’s start.
