Workforce Solutions Group Names Consigli “Employer of the Year”

BOSTON, MA – Today, Consigli Construction Co., Inc. was recognized by The Workforce Solutions Group (WSG) as the 2016 Employer of the Year. The recognition was given at the 7th Annual Massachusetts Jobs and Workforce Summit at the Devens Conference Center in Devens, Mass.

“This is a tremendous honor for us at Consigli, as we continually emphasize the importance of workforce development through internal and external programs that support higher education and learning,” said CEO Anthony Consigli. “We’re grateful to be recognized in this way by The Workforce Solutions Group and congratulate the other nominees and award winners.”

The WSG is a statewide advocacy coalition of business, labor, community and workforce development groups that advocate for skills training and employment opportunities for low and moderate income individuals. Active since 2003, The WSG has successfully advocated for millions of dollars in new resources for sector based training partnerships, teen jobs and adult basic education.

Every year the group honors community partners who have contributed significantly to enhancing workforce development with its Champion Awards. The awards are given out in three categories: Employer of the Year; Workforce Training Partnership of the Year; and Youth Workforce Program of the Year.

Through advocacy led by the Workforce Solutions Group, the state has added over $80 million in new workforce funding, including the creation of the Workforce Competitiveness Trust Fund, which has distributed $25 million in grants to support sector partnerships in every region of the state.

Consigli recognizes workforce development as a key contributor to keeping the economy healthy and vibrant.

Recently, Consigli funded the Science from Scientists program at the Burncoat Elementary School in Worcester. Science from Scientists is a non-profit that improves the attitudes and aptitudes of students between fourth and eighth grades in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

For several years Consigli has also volunteered for the ACE Mentor Program, providing mentors to dozens of area students in the Greater Boston area, helping them to understand the construction and engineering industries with hands on experience.

The company provides educational programming for its employees through the Consigli Learning Conference, a program that offers industry training to current employees twice a year. And employees regularly receive workforce training at the Consigli University, a state-of-the-art classroom and meeting space in its headquarters.
