Clark University

Project: Blackstone Hall
Location: Worcester, MA
Architect: Chan Krieger Sieniewicz

To keep up with their increasing demand for on-campus housing, Clark University constructed a new residential complex-comprised of two four-story dorms connected by a three-story bridge-to add over 200 beds to their Worcester campus.

  • Built on an aggressive, 12-month schedule, plus an enabling phase to abate 9 existing houses to create the future site of the building footprint
  • Achieved LEED Silver Certification through a collaborative process, using materials such as bamboo and cork flooring and managing a 90% jobsite waste recycling rate
  • Maintained access to an adjacent parking lot throughout construction
