Maine Molecular’s production quadrupled with the completion of its new state-of-the-art product development and manufacturing facility in Saco, ME, which was built to support increased demand for molecular diagnostics quality controls. The new 16,000-square-foot facility produces highly-calibrated quality controls for molecular testing for inherited diseases, infectious diseases and adverse reactions to drugs caused by genetic factors. An early and collaborative review of architectural design and mechanical system design helped ensure the differential pressure from one manufacturing room to the next would be achieved with zero risk of cross-contamination.
The project scope included the construction of multiple manufacturing rooms, packaging center, loading docks and offices. The manufacturing rooms were constructed with a pre-fabricated Plascore modular clean room wall system. The stainless steel exterior tile installed as the exterior siding illustrates the pattern of a DNA strand. Our team self-performed the complete installation of the ICF exterior wall system, all interior metal framing, drywall and rough carpentry.
