The Center for Discovery Children’s Specialty Hospital project aimed to create a world-class facility for short-term, inpatient assessment and treatment, focusing on diagnosing underlying issues affecting behavior and learning in individuals with autism and other conditions. The comprehensive project involved the conversion of an existing 55,000 sq. ft. office building into a state-of-the-art Children’s Specialty Hospital. Additionally, a 6,500 sq. ft. Medically Fragile wing was added to enhance the facility’s capabilities.
The newly renovated space on the first floor and the lower level, include a health clinic, resident rooms, and dedicated physical therapy spaces, as well as eight classrooms designed to facilitate optimal learning environments for behavioral assessments. On the lower level, a new main entry, cafeteria, dining area, kitchen, and gym have been thoughtfully integrated to create a cohesive and functional space that caters to the diverse needs of patients, staff, and visitors. The Alemany Training Center underwent a thorough renovation, involving the transformation of two conference rooms, meeting spaces, and a full overhaul of the existing auditorium with new AV, lighting and sound systems. The project’s expansion efforts extended to the addition of a Medically Fragile wing, featuring six patient rooms and two nurse stations enhance the efficiency and responsiveness of healthcare services within this specialized wing.
