Project: Paresky Dining Commons
Location: Andover, MA
Architect: Schwartz/Silver Architects, Inc.
The goal of this significant campus renovation was not only to improve foodservice capabilities and increase energy efficiency, but to preserve the historic character of the Dining Commons, a beloved historic building to the Phillips Academy community.
- Planned and priced options for a temporary dining hall that could provide full meal service throughout construction, eventually building one in an existing hockey rink
- Adaptive reuse and green building components, including energy-efficient kitchen equipment and exhaust systems, helped propel the project to LEED Gold standards
- Performed a delicate interior and exterior restoration of period elements such as period millwork, treasured murals, and intricate wood carvings, while reclaiming and reusing materials such as original marble and limestone
