Trinity Church Boston
Project: West Wall and Southwest Tower Restoration
Location: Boston, MA
Architect: Goody Clancy
Restoration and repair of the West Wall and Southwest Tower of Trinity Church maintains the integrity of the historic façade of this H.H. Richardson-designed National Historic Landmark, considered one of the most architecturally significant structures in the country.
- Work involved extensive masonry repair, restoration of old-growth White Pine louvers in the Southwest Tower, replacement of the existing belfry roof with a new copper roof and re-installation of the restored “Christ Preaching” stained glass window.
- Mitigation methods included custom signage and scrim, overhead protection and careful sequencing around Church activities, as well as coordination of a traffic management plan with the City of Boston.
- All work was managed around the continually operating Church within an active urban environment.
