A successfully growing student population provided the catalyst for Putnam Vocational Technical High School’s new 308,000 sq. ft. school serving 1,600 students and faculty.
- Detailed, comprehensive schedules were developed to carefully phase demolition of the existing building around an active campus and relocate students into the new building.
- Self-performed carpentry, concrete and rebar work accelerated the schedule.
- Built to meet the requirements of the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) program, the new school will include standard and special needs classrooms, foodservice facilities and administrative offices.
- Unique program areas include classrooms, labs and shops for the following: hospitality/ culinary arts/ tourism suite with full kitchen and hotel mock-up; dental suite; child care section; retail/marketing with ATM; horticultural/arboricultural/landscape with greenhouse; automotive/collision and technology; machine technology and sheet metal and metal fabrication; cosmetology; plumbing/carpentry; electrical/HVAC; protective services; medical, health and clinical assisting; graphic design and arts; robotics; and information systems/networking; office technology.
