MILFORD, MA – Chief Information Officer Anthony Chiaradonna recently shared insight into how Consigli is integrating AI into its projects and workflows in a Construction Dive interview that highlighted the firm’s strategic approach to innovation and technology adoption, as well as his outlook on the long-term impacts AI will drive for the construction industry and its workforce.

According to Chiaradonna, core construction phases like estimating, which have historically relied on spreadsheets and manual tracking, have benefitted the most from the use of AI in their systems. By analyzing revisions, assumptions and tradeoffs throughout the estimating process, AI has helped provide greater visibility into project decisions and better enabled Consigli to deliver more transparent and complete project narratives for clients.

Chiaradonna also outlined Consigli’s collaborative approach to AI implementation, with the firm’s Innovation, Virtual Design & Construction (VDC), field and IT teams each playing a distinct role in evaluating, deploying and governing emerging technologies. This cross-functional strategy ensures AI solutions enhance project delivery while maintaining Consigli’s high standards for quality, safety and data security.
“Our innovation and VDC teams help bridge the gap between the technology and its jobsite application. They pilot new and emerging AI technologies to evaluate their use and validate whether or not they will deliver value to our projects…As AI continues to scale, that kind of oversight becomes just as important as the technology itself.”
Looking ahead, Chiaradonna noted that AI is rapidly becoming an expected part of the construction technology landscape. As adoption grows industrywide, contractors are increasingly focused on managing AI at scale while equipping employees with the tools needed to work more efficiently and make better-informed decisions.
