New York-Presbyterian The One Recognized by AMFP for Excellence in Healthcare Remote Outpatient Facility Design

NEW YORK, N.Y. — Consigli Construction Co., Inc. today announced that The One, NewYork-Presbyterian’s new center for advanced care, has received the Excellence in Healthcare Remote Outpatient Facility Design Award from the Greater New York chapter of the Association of Medical Facility Professionals (AMFP GNY). The project was recently recognized in AMFP GNY’s annual awards for its innovative transformation of a former corporate office campus into a state-of-the-art outpatient destination that expands access to NewYork-Presbyterian’s world-class healthcare services in Westchester County.

Located on a 26-acre campus that was the former home of PepsiCo corporate headquarters, The One involved the innovative adaptive reuse of former corporate office buildings into a 280,000-square-foot ambulatory care campus. The facility brings together advanced imaging, ambulatory surgery, oncology, infusion and rehabilitation along with more than 150 exam rooms within a single patient-centered environment within one integrated destination.

Notable for both its scale and its accelerated delivery, Consigli completed construction on an aggressive 14-month schedule – nearly half the typical duration for comparable projects delivered through traditional methods. Through its adaptive reuse, the existing office complex was transformed into a modern healthcare environment while maintaining rapid progress across multiple floors simultaneously. The adaptive reuse effort included the replacement and modernization of critical infrastructure systems throughout the campus, with Consigli employing a design-assist delivery approach alongside partners CannonDesign and WSP.

As a design-assist partner alongside CannonDesign and WSP, Consigli’s project team utilized strategic procurement of long-lead materials and intensive coordination to meet schedule demands while maintaining quality and patient-centered design objectives. At peak construction, more than 450 tradespeople were working onsite, coordinating complex structural, architectural and M/E/P upgrades required to support sophisticated clinical programs and equipment.

“The One is an example of how thoughtful planning, strong partnerships and innovative delivery strategies can transform existing spaces into healthcare environments that will serve communities for decades to come,” said Raffaela Dunne, Market Director of Healthcare at Consigli Construction Co., Inc. “We are honored to see the project recognized for the impact it will have on patients throughout the region, and Consigli is grateful to NewYork-Presbyterian for the opportunity to support their critically important work.”

“This project challenged our team to rethink traditional approaches to healthcare construction and project delivery,” said Gerry Stern, Project Executive at Consigli Construction Co., Inc. “The result is a world-class facility that supports NewYork-Presbyterian’s long-term vision for healthcare in the region and demonstrates the power of adaptive reuse as a strategy for creating exceptional clinical environments.”

In addition to The One’s award-winning recognition, multiple Consigli-led projects were also named by AMFP GNY as finalists, including NYC Health + Hospitals Bellevue Hospital Outposted Therapeutic Housing Unit  and the NewYork-Presbyterian Service Building Renovation in the Excellence in Healthcare Interior Renovation Award category, reflecting the firm’s continued leadership in the healthcare construction sector throughout the New York metropolitan area.

Presented annually by the Greater New York chapter of AMFP, the awards program recognizes excellence in healthcare planning, design and construction across the region. Winners are selected from projects completed within the New York metropolitan area that demonstrate innovation, collaboration, community impact and outstanding project execution.
