Project Overview

  • One of the first buildings within Saint-Gobain’s Innovation Hub North America, supporting a centralized destination for research and development
  • First-of-its-kind fire testing laboratory in the United States featuring advanced furnace testing and emissions control systems
  • Precast concrete panel enclosure expedited the schedule while supporting the facility’s complex high-bay industrial requirements

To support the continued growth of its North American research and development operations, Saint-Gobain developed a new fire testing facility as one of the first buildings within the company’s Innovation Hub North America. The high-bay industrial research and design facility serves as a centralized location for testing and validating building products and assemblies. The laboratory includes two testing furnaces, specialized support spaces and a Trema Scrubber emissions control system designed to support advanced fire performance testing.

The facility was constructed to accommodate highly specialized industrial equipment and stringent environmental requirements. A precast concrete panel façade system was utilized to accelerate enclosure activities and maintain an aggressive project schedule. The testing furnaces are designed to verify the fire ratings of a wide range of building components including fire doors and shutters, load-bearing and non-load-bearing assemblies, ventilation ducts, glazing systems, dampers, columns and penetration seals. The integrated emissions control system captures and scrubs hazardous combustion byproducts, ensuring that testing operations meet environmental standards while supporting critical product research and development efforts.
