Project Overview
- New construction of New Balance’s sixth U.S. athletic footwear manufacturing facility to expand its domestic supplier network
- Extensive coordination of logistics to ensure construction does not disrupt traffic as it leads to the neighboring local airport
- Pre-purchase of critical equipment with long lead times to ensure timely project completion
As part of its larger effort to expand manufacturing capacity in the U.S., New Balance is building a new one-story combined office and manufacturing facility—its sixth manufacturing facility in the country. The facility will integrate lean manufacturing processes expected to enable a demand-driven and responsive MADE in U.S. supply network. The new building will support the hire of 250 new employees after the first phase of construction is finished, with a total of 450 employees by completion of the entire project. Located on 17.8 acres of land, the facility will include seven loading docks and 10 spots for trailers.
The project reflects New Balance’s long-term enhanced sustainability goals through features including all-LED lighting. To support the fast-track schedule, long-lead equipment (e.g. rooftop units, switchgear, generator, etc.) is being pre-purchased to mitigate risks of schedule delays. The completed facility will be prepared and built for the possibility of future expansion.
