Scenic Hudson Northside Hub

The historic manufacturing building, once home to a subsidiary of the Ford Motor Company and later the Standard Gage Company, for industrial use, has been transformed into Scenic Hudson’s Northside Hub. The non-profit is deepening its roots in the City of Poughkeepsie and building upon its commitment to be an active partner in revitalizing the city’s Northside neighborhoods.

The adaptive reuse project included a new workspace for its staff, auditorium, gallery spaces, outdoor parkland, and public space for community gatherings, meetings, events, and educational activities. The building also includes shell spaces for future tenant fit-outs. The historic project site received historic tax credits for the extensive restoration work to the existing structure; the scope involved restoring the original window size and style, while maintaining the existing structure with reinforcements, and restoration of masonry façade and smokestack. Scenic Hudson’s goal was to make the repurposed land and structures green and environmentally sustainable. The building was built to net zero standards and features solar arrays, natural ventilation, air and water source heat pumps, and natural lighting. The brownfield site required extensive remediation to remove asbestos and contaminated soil. The self-performed scope of work included carpentry, drywall and millshop.
