Project Overview

  • Renovation of a historic private club consisting of three buildings constructed during three different eras
  • Copper, slate, and TPO roofing replacement
  • Façade restoration including historic brick repair and repointing, masonry coating, and stone and wood repair

The George Town Club was established in 1966 and occupies one of the few remaining 18th-century frame buildings in the historic port district of Georgetown, believed to have been John Suter’s Tavern, circa 1783. The founders extensively renovated the run-down historic building and rescued the wrought iron work by Samuel Yellin. Over time, the two brick townhouses adjacent to the original structure were purchased and incorporated into the Club.

This project provides much-needed exterior and interior renovations and upgrades to the historic private club. Exterior renovations include a copper, slate and TPO roofing replacement. The facade restoration features historic brick repair and repointing, masonry coating, stone and wood repair and window restoration. Kitchen renovations include equipment replacement and architectural layout upgrades. The project also features ceiling abatement in the library and the addition of two new bathrooms, as well as interior finish upgrades and repairs throughout the property.
