Project Overview

  • Alleviated logistical concerns early in the pre-construction phase by performing disruptive work over the winter
  • Provided civil and structural designers all the information they needed to accurately complete a flexible design prior to GMP
  • Accommodated any potential delays in unforeseen conditions, which is commonly found in early 19th century buildings like the Miller Library

Built in 1939, the Miller Library is one of the oldest buildings on Colby College’s Mayflower Hill campus. In 1983, a major addition and renovation doubled the building’s size to accommodate a total of 700 students.

We were awarded this two-phased renovation project to create new collaborative workspaces and update the existing library interior, including reading rooms, offices and artifacts storage. Phase I and Phase II were completed over two consecutive summers from May 21 to August 20, 2013 and 2014, respectively.
