Project Overview

  • Extensive façade renovations to include new curtain wall and install custom metal fabric screening
  • Installation of a rooftop solar array on the updated facility
  • Coordination around the active building and its urban presence at the heart of Old Port Square, a distinctive downtown destination occupying a four-acre block

Previously known as the Fore Street Garage, this four-story, steel-framed garage required a refresh. The project included the restoration of existing concrete and steel surfaces, as well as the installation of custom metal fabric façade screening with a unique lighting display. The façade was also restored at the lower front level, which offers space for retail tenants.

Today, the project is known as the Old Port Square Garage, as it sits within Old Port Square—a four-acre redevelopment project in the heart of Portland’s historic downtown that brings together hospitality, retail, parking and public-facing spaces. The updated parking garage houses a new rooftop solar array and curtain wall-enclosed stair tower. The existing elevator shaft was demolished and rebuilt. All work was managed while keeping the occupied building operational among the active urban presence in the heart of the Old Port. Consigli’s self-perform team managed the concrete work.
