Project Overview

  • New building will contain a variety of laboratories, office and community space for research scientists
  • Early engagement with permitting officials, Eversource Energy and MBTA will allow Consigli to adhere to the fast-track schedule

The Ragon Institute, an MGH, MIT and Harvard-affiliated research center for immune system diseases, is a new research facility and lab space building near Kendall Square in Cambridge. The building will serve as a central meeting arena for researchers and a teaching place for students, and features abundance of conference rooms, classroom space, and amenity space including a child care center.

The facility will be approximately 50% wet laboratory and 50% office space. The building includes three floors of BSL2/BSL2+ labs, one floor of BSL3 labs, a vivarium, procedure spaces, issue culture rooms, as well as community and circulation spaces. Consigli will also construct two levels of underground parking for approximately 140 cars which requires deep hole soil excavation and foundation systems.

All work is being completed on a tight urban site which requires extensive coordination with all parties involved.
