Project Overview

  • Constructed directly above the Central Artery (I-93) tunnel with the building structure straddling the highway
  • City, state and federal coordination of permits and logistics required to address multiple stakeholder concerns
  • Façade blends the notable architecture of Charles Bulfinch and the industrial style of neighboring buildings

The Beverly is a mixed-use affordable/workforce housing and hotel development located in Boston’s Bulfinch Triangle. The building features 239 residential apartment units, a 220-room Courtyard Marriott Hotel, ground-level restaurant and retail space and a grade-level parking garage. The new 14-story high rise brings much-needed housing to the area, serving as the largest affordable housing project built in Boston in the last 25 years.

Our approach to building in the dense urban area required coordination and ongoing communication with city, state and federal entities to ensure that the building—which sits directly above the Central Artery Interstate 93 tunnel—was safely supported by foundations spanning the width of the tunnel.
