Project Overview
- Extensive conversion resulting in the first Margaritaville-themed vacation ownership project in the world
- Transformation of 290 hotel rooms into fully furnished condominium style units
- Creation of approximately 125 full-time jobs as a result of the completed resort
Wyndham Vacation Ownership and musical star Jimmy Buffet partnered to convert the former Grand Beach Palace Resort into the world’s first Margaritaville vacation ownership project. The phased conversion of the 25-acre site located on the northern side of St. Thomas transformed the property into a place where guests can be fully immersed in the brand’s escapism and island lifestyle.
Phase I of the project included the conversion of 290 existing hotel rooms into 262 fully furnished condominium style units. Seven beachfront buildings and common areas were also revived, including a reception building, pool area, 5 O’clock Somewhere bar, Margaritaville® restaurant, dive shop with water activities and venues for live music. Phase two consisted of six hillside building conversions and the addition of a second pool and bar built into the hillside.
Project completed by J. Benton Construction, LLC—Consigli’s Caribbean partner.
