The Virgin Islands Department of Education (VIDE) is modernizing the Bertha C. Boschulte PreK–8 School to address extensive damage sustained during the 2017 hurricane season and expand capacity across an aging, multi-building campus. One of the first projects advanced under VIDE’s Educational Facilities Master Plan, the scope includes replacement of existing HVAC, lighting and plumbing systems as well as all new fire protection and fire alarm systems. Multi-phased renovation work, including new flat roofs, repair of existing standing seam metal roofs, all new windows and exterior façade repairs, will occur while the building is occupied. The fully air-conditioned campus is designed to meet modern performance, resilience and longevity needs.

Delivered as a design-build project spanning fourteen buildings, construction is advancing in tightly sequenced phases to maintain daily school operations and community access. Extensive coordination across the campus is allowing the renovation to advance while integrating outdoor learning plazas and reimagined shared facilities into a cohesive educational environment.

The project is being managed by the Consigli/Benton Joint Venture.
