- Wood-framed construction of a major residential development within the Historic Monument area of Charlestown
- Significant planning for logistics was necessary for this project located within a thriving residential and tourist district
- Project met the requirements of the National Park Service, Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA) and City of Boston agencies
This condominium development is sited on Parcel 39A, a vacant lot formerly owned by the Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA) in the Charlestown waterfront district. In response to the increased demand for urban residences, the BRA selected the development proposal presented by Kavanaugh Advisory Group to build 52 high-end condominiums.
This high-profile site, in close proximity to the USS Constitution and other tourist destinations, required precise scheduling and logistics to minimize construction impacts. The four-story, wood-framed development was designed to complement the existing historic Navy Yard with contextual masonry architecture. Preparation of the urban site for construction included the use of environmentally friendly “Rammed Aggregate Piers®” (RAPs) to stabilize the soil.
